MEMBERSHIP FORMDuring the course of the year we organize a number of cultural events, including group visits to the Columbus Museum of Art, presentations on French and Francophone cultural themes, picnics with French dishes. Past events have included:
Join one or both of our conversation groups, Table Ronde and Eastside Conversation Group, where we practice speaking French and talk about French and Francophone culture.
Throughout the year we organize restaurant and cinema outings when French films or films representing French culture are released in the Columbus area. We also organize movie nights to watch French films, often in relation to themes covered in the French lessons or other Alliance events.
French lessons and tutoring are offered both for groups and individuals. Four levels of group classes are offered on a quarterly basis between September and June. See below for more information.
After an eternity the new version of the French Alliance Columbus web site is finally up and running! However, it is still being updated. New features will be added over time, the first and foremost being a fully responsive version of the site that displays properly on mobile devices. For the moment this remains a traditional site designed for computer screens.
A free comics art & animation festival based in Columbus, Ohio
Columbus AF friend Ben Towles has extended an invitation to the international cartoon festival in
Columbus this upcoming weekend. CXC has been successful in bringing in a Franco-Belgian
cartoonist this year -- the one we'd discussed in reference to AF, Léonie
Bischoff.
We also have Françoise Mouly coming in--the French woman who's been the art editor of The New Yorker for decades! (And wife of Art Spiegelman of MAUS fame, who will also be here.)
Here's Léonie Bischoff's events:https://frit.osu.edu/events/billy-ireland-cartoon-library-museum-and-cartoon-crossroads-columbus-cxc-hosting-swiss

A special announcement from one of our members, Christopher Clarke
I thought that the members might be interested in a concert by the Cleveland Orchestra coming up in January. It consists of works by French composers plus “An American in Paris” by Gershwin.

Nous avons de grandes nouvelles. There is a new French restaurant, in Columbus, Chouette, (literally "owl" but in common parlance it means "cool"). With a menu that includes crêpes, escargots, pâté de campagne and other hard-to-find treats, it is a welcome addition to our culinary scene. Sharon and Christine have volunteered to organize a group outing on Saturday, January 18, from 1:00-3:00 PM. We're hoping that, if we have enough interest, we can persuade the chef to join us for a brief presentation. No charge from the Alliance. Lunch and parking at your expense. Limited to 20.
