After an eternity the new version of the French Alliance Columbus web site is finally up and running! However, it is still being updated. Cartoon Crossroads Columbus (CXC)
CXC 2024 September 26th – 29th

A free comics art & animation festival based in Columbus, Ohio

Columbus AF friend Ben Towles has extended an invitation to the international cartoon festival in Columbus this upcoming weekend. CXC has been successful in bringing in a Franco-Belgian cartoonist this year -- the one we'd discussed in reference to AF, Léonie Bischoff.

We also have Françoise Mouly coming in--the French woman who's been the art editor of The New Yorker for decades! (And wife of Art Spiegelman of MAUS fame, who will also be here.)

Here's Léonie Bischoff's events:https://frit.osu.edu/events/billy-ireland-cartoon-library-museum-and-cartoon-crossroads-columbus-cxc-hosting-swiss

Host Val has invited us to gather again for a salute to a French tradition. Since the 14th century, the 6th of January has been the occasion in France to tirer les rois (decide who is king of the day). A porcelain or earthenware figurine la fève is placed in a traditional flat cake or galette and the person who finds it in his portion is crowned king.

Join us to celebrate and learn about the history and customs surrounding the event. The Alliance will provide the galette and crowns.

Alliance fee is $15 per person which will be collected at the door. It does not include your own purchase of food and drink from the restaurant.Limited to 20.
